Course syllabus
Our ELA coursework focuses on Annotated Reading, Applied Grammar, Building Paragraphs, and culminates with a Final Project.
- Uncover the deeper meaning of science fiction and its philosophical impact. Unlock Ender’s Game by analyzing theme, setting, characterization, and author’s point of view. Acquire new vocabulary using context clues and apply your knowledge of new note-taking techniques.
- Use fiction to make connections with the real world and other media; determine the impact of writing as sociopolitical commentary. Reflect on the author’s point of view and the story’s theme.
- Develop an assertive claim about the book and map out cohesive paragraph structures to analyze its impact. Integrate text-based evidence to support your argumentation.
- Write a blog post; determine the unique qualities of online writing and hone your persuasive voice. Deepen your narrative technique with the principle of “show, don’t tell,” and revise your story with an editing exercise.

Hear What Our Students Have to Say!
"Having just finished up my freshman year, I am delighted to announce that English II was a breeze thanks to you. After taking all the different levels of Letterly, I gained the confidence to take the exam to skip a grade in English the very same year I took your classes."
“In school, I just read a passage and answer multiple choices ... at Letterly, we do more reading, annotating, and writing. We learn how to make it stronger using conjunctions, clauses, and more. We then learn how to use these methods in our writing”
